The San Marcos High School girls basketball team is 0-2 in District 17-4A and 7-11 overall after a 59-51 loss at home against Elgin last Friday.
The Rattlers fell behind, 15-8, after one quarter against Elgin, the Rattlers worked up a couple lead changes in the third period, but couldn’t go all the way over the hump. Elgin rallied for a 44-40 lead at the end of the third period and built its lead through the fourth.
Madelyn Swinney scored 14 points to lead the Rattlers, followed by Ashley Crayton with 12. Elgin’s Jasmine Simmons led all scorers with 22 points.
The Rattlers return to action next Monday at the Bush’s Chicken Holiday Classic in Copperas Cove.
