Bobcats fall at DePaul, 86-69

Playing on the road against a Big East team, the Texas State men’s basketball team hung close most of the way Saturday afternoon before falling, 86-69, to DePaul.

The Bobcats dropped to 3-8, while DePaul improved to 7-4.

Texas State held a 32-21 lead with 4:38 left in the first half, but DePaul scored the next 17 points to forge a 38-32 lead four minutes into the second half. The Blue Demons built their lead all the way out to 61-47 and the Bobcats could never cut their deficit to fewer than eight points.

Texas State freshman Dylan Hale led the Bobcats with 22 points, followed by 21 points for John Rybak. DePaul’s Will Walker led all scorers with 23 points, while teammates Mike Stovall and Devin Hill each scored 19.

The Bobcats will resume their schedule next Tuesday, Dec. 29, against Texas Lutheran at Strahan Coliseum (7 p.m.).
