KYLE — The Kyle Police Department (KPD) said Friday that a man who shot a woman in the leg, then shot himself in the head last Saturday morning, died Thursday night at Brackenridge Hospital.
Amador Gutierrez, 44, died from his wounds at approximately 7:52 p.m. Thursday. His wife, Hortencia G. Gutierrez, 56, has been released from the hospital after being shot in the leg.
At about 11:29 a.m. on Dec. 12, the KPD responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Zebra Drive. While KPD was en route, a caller to dispatch reported that his mother had been shot and that the gunman then shot himself.
On arrival, officers observed two male subjects standing outside of a private residence and pointing towards the front door of the house.
Officers entered the home and found a male subject lying in a pool of blood on the first floor and a female subject on the stairs with gunshot wounds to her legs.
Officers were told that an argument erupted between the two individuals led the male subject to leave the house armed with a 9 mm pistol. The man turned back towards the house and fired a shot through the front door striking the female. The male then went back into the home, where he then turned the weapon on himself and shot himself in the head.
Both individuals were transported to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.
RE: this headline…of course he died of his “own gun wounds”. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone die from someone else’s wounds. THAT would suck.
