STAFF REPORT

Residents driving through the historic downtown district in San Marcos may have already noticed the new “Shop San Marcos” banners decorating the major thoroughfares. The banners are there to remind Christmas consumers to shop locally. They lend a colorful festive look to the area and impart a message of seasonal good wishes.

  1. I like these. It would be great to see them used in conjunction with a program designed to get people downtown, like a shuttle from the Outlet Mall (perhaps as a “thank you” for some of the money we gave them).

It would also be nice to see them in front of some of the stores and restaurants which are “off the beaten path,” to draw in shoppers who might not otherwise notice these businesses.
