Christmas is a time of charity. However, the giving season at Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) started early this year with the hospital’s annual employee donation campaign in October. Following this was an annual food drive and work with the San Marcos area Blue and Brown Santa programs.

CTMC President and CEO Gary Jepson said, “We have an unwavering commitment to charitable giving. As a charitable organization ourselves, we understand how incredibly satisfying it is to know that you have helped someone else. It’s personally rewarding to see how many of our associates are taking our mission to heart and truly putting it in motion through the simple act of giving to another.”

As a non-profit hospital, CTMC strives to improve and enhance the overall well-being of the community. In 2008, CTMC supported the community with more than $12 million for the underprivleged, including wellness and spiritual programs.

In spite of a chilly economic climate, CTMC employees donated more in 2009 than ever before. Associates donated more than $72,474.00 in cash during the “Season of Sharing” campaign benefiting a number of CTMC mission initiatives and the United Way of Hays County.  Another $225,00 was raised through the annual Christmas Basket Silent Auction, which benefits the hospital’s Employee Assistance Fund.  Another $1, 637, along with 430 pounds of food, went to the Hays County Area Food Bank.

The Blue and Brown Santa programs benefited from more than 150 toys and $530 in cash from CTMC efforts.

The employee fundraisers were made possible through the CTMC Foundation and the new CTMC Mission Council.
