Conley GSMYC benefit to repeat on Dec. 19

STAFF REPORT

The seventh annual Greater San Marcos Youth Council (GSMYC) Children’s Shelter and Conley Car Wash & Express Lube Shelter Benefit that took place on Dec. 12 has been extended due to inclement weather.

While Conley and GSMYC heartily thank the patrons who ignored the rain to patronize the benefit, the event will get another chance for those who missed it. The benefit will repeat on Saturday, Dec. 19th  from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Dec. 19, 15 percent of every car wash, detail and full service oil change will be donated to the shelter. Bidding on the huge silent auction has also been extended to Sunday, Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. Winners will be notified on Dec. 21.

Conley is also selling $1 paper cars to benefit the shelter. There is  a donation bin for “wish list” items for the shelter if patrons would rather donate goods. The shelter is always in need of shoes, food, gently used clothing, household items and hygiene products like shampoo and toothpaste.

Last year, the 16-bed children’s shelter cared for 197 abused or neglected children. The shelter’s goal is to remain open 365 days a year with trained staff in a safe structured environment.  More information on the shelter is available at www.gsmyc.org.
