Thomason elected to San Marcos City Council

Homebuilder Ryan Thomason easily won a runoff election today for San Marcos City Council Place 6, taking in 696 votes, or 61.4 percent, of 1,134 votes cast.

Texas State University academic adviser Lisa Marie Coppoletta won 438 votes, about 38.6 percent.

Thomason said he looks forward to his work on the council. He said, “From the outside you think you know everything and once you get all the information the people on the council already have, you learn quickly. I’m going to get in and be fairly quiet at first and get my bearings.”

In early and absentee voting, Thomason won 312 votes, or 67.4 percent, to Coppoletta’s 151, or 32.6 percent. Coppoletta narrowed the margin somewhat on Election Day, winning 287 votes to Thomason’s 384.
