Two hospitalized after shots in Kyle

STAFF REPORT

KYLE — The Kyle Police Department (KPD) is working on criminal charges in the case of a man who is said to have shot a woman in the leg, then shot himself in the head last Saturday morning.

At about 11:29 a.m. Saturday, the KPD responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Zebra Drive. While KPD was en route, a caller to dispatch reported that his mother had been shot and that the gunman then shot himself.

On arrival, officers observed two male subjects standing outside of a private residence and pointing towards the front door of the house.

Officers entered the home and found a male subject lying in a pool of blood on the first floor and a female subject on the stairs with gunshot wounds to her legs.

Officers were told that an argument erupted between the two individuals led the male subject to leave the house armed with a 9 mm pistol. The man turned back towards the house and fired a shot through the front door striking the female.  The male then went back into the home, where he then turned the weapon on himself and shot himself in the head.

Both individuals were transported to Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.
