San Marcos Chamber hosting Swiss artist’s exhibition

Swiss artist Veronique Zehnder Hahn will exhibit her works beginning Monday, Dec. 14, to Jan. 8 at the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, 202 N. C.M. Allen Parkway.

A popular local artist, Zehnder Hahn specializes in abstract art work relating to nature and using vibrant strong colors as well as pastel and gold to give different aspects of interpretations and stimulate the imagination.

In addition to her paintings, she also has written and illustrated three children’s books.

“Veronique’s unique artistic style influenced by her many years of living abroad brings a fresh perspective that is challenging, engaging and enjoyable,” Chamber President Phyllis Snodgrass said,” She has had a huge impact on the Chamber’s connection with the arts community in San Marcos.”

Zehnder Hahn is also is preparing for a July 2010 exhibit in her home country with her daughter, Sabine, at the Ortsmuseum in Richterswil. She has had numerous foreign showings on her own.

She was born in Casablanca, Morocco where her father, a Swiss scientist was doing work. She returned with her parents to Switzerland for her early education before receiving her degree in fine arts at the College of Higher Education for the Arts Arnhelm in the Netherland.

After an earlier stay in the United States, she returned to Switzerland before moving back to this country. Zehnder Hahn came to San Marcos with her husband, a biology professor at Texas State University San Marcos.
