Cameron Johnson reached a career high with 24 points Saturday, leading Texas State to an 80-70 men’s basketball victory against Texas Pan American Saturday at Strahan Coliseum.
Johnson also had 10 renounds for Texas State, his highest total of the season. J.B. Conley added 11 points for Texas State, while John Bowman and Uriel Segura each scored 10 points.
Texas State improved to 3-5 this season, while Texas Pan American fell to 1-8.
The Bobcats jumped to a 22-11 lead just more than eight minutes into the game as Johnson scored 15 during that span.
“They played him one-on-one defense on the post and didn’t have any shot blockers,” Texas State head coach Doug Davalos said. “He wasn’t doing anything special. He just caught it, turned and made a play.”
The Bobcats extended their lead to 42-23 at halftime.
Jared Maree led Pan American with 20 points.
