Prevailing in two straight closely contested games at the Austin Bowie Tournament, the San Marcos High School girls basketball team has raised its record to 6-4.
The Rattlers beat San Antonio Johnson, 49-44, Friday night after a 47-43 win against Bowie Thursday night.
The tournament moves out of pool play and into tournament play Saturday.
San Marcos won in the fourth quarter Thursday, outscoring Bowie, 17-8, in the last eight minutes of regulation to force overtime at 41-41. Once there, the Rattlers took control of the game. Ali Gonzales led San Marcos with 15 points, followed by Ashley Crayton with 12.
The Rattlers came back Friday with their win against Johnson. Again, San Marcos came up huge in the fourth period. Entering the final quarter in a 40-29 deficit, the Rattlers outscored Johnson, 20-4, in the fourth period to win by five. Crayton led the Rattlers with 13 points.Email | Print
