Russell Huebner announced his candidacy Friday for the Kyle City Council’s District 6 place that will be decided in a special election slated for Feb. 13.
Huebner said he wants to preserve Kyle’s quality of life, manage its economic growth, and bring an end to excessive borrowing and tax hikes, according to a news release.
“Kyle is ripe for continued development and, as a member of the City Council, I will bring new energy, enthusiasm, and leadership to city hall,” Huebner said in the release. “We are at a crossroad in the city’s development and must be diligent about how we approach the future.”
Huebner has been endorsed by former District 6 Councilmember Ray Bryant, who has stepped down to run for Hays County Commissioner Precinct 2, the release said.
In 2001, Huebner graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A in History and a minor in General Business. Over the past seven years, Huebner has worked for two Fortune 100 companies, Wells Fargo Bank and J.P. Morgan Chase Bank. He currently works for Pioneer Bank in Dripping Springs as Director of Business Development, the release said.
Huebner has been involved in the local business community through his membership in the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the Strategic Planning and Finance Committee for the City of Kyle, the release added.
