The San Marcos High School boys basketball team fell to 1-3 Tuesday night with a 63-45 loss at home against New Braunfels Canyon.
Turnovers and poor shooting doomed the Rattlers, who gave the ball away 23 times and made only 33 percent of their shots (15 of 46).
D.J. Gardner scored 11 points for the Rattlers, while Chris Threadgill added 10.
San Marcos will play its next games Friday and Saturday at the Matador Classic in Seguin.
The San Marcos High School girls basketball team dropped to 4-4 with their 53-50 overtime loss Tuesday night at Bastrop. Madelyn Swinney led the Rattlers with 14 points.
The San Marcos girls will play Friday and Saturday at the Bowie High School in Austin for the Bulldog Invitational.
