Happy Thanksgiving!

Roger Atkeisson’s fifth grade class raised the most money and got a turkey, sort of.

When Bowie Elementary School completed its Great Turkey Race for the Hays County Food Bank, the school’s students had raised $628 to give Thanksgiving meals to families in Hays County. It is enough to feed 31 families for Turkey Day.

Roger Atkeisson’s fifth grade class raised the most money for the drive. For their achievement, he earned the “privilege” of wearing a turkey costume all day while teaching on Tuesday.

Linda Bishop’s class created and wore Native American headdresses in honor of the helpful guests of the Pilgrim’s first Thanksgiving.

The Phoenix Learning Center started a new tradition with a Thanksgiving feast for the whole school last Thursday. During the luncheon, students and staff discussed things “for which they were grateful.” One of them surely had to be the delicious feast.
