STAFF REPORT

The Sights and Sounds of Christmas Gala recently announced that the Kris Kimura Quartet will be the entertainment for the gala fundraiser.

Organizers are reminding residents to reserve their tickets early for the “ebony and ivory” event. The gala will be held Dec. 2 at the San Marcos Conference Center at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

The gala begins at 6 p.m. on the evening before the Sights and Sounds festival begins. A seated dinner of holiday cuisine will be followed by music from the Kris Kimura Quartet.

The quartet is a swing band based in Austin that has received plaudits from Harry Connick Jr., Diana Krall, Elvis Costello, Lucien Barbarin and Jeff Kashiwa. The band is devoted to the jazz and swing idiom and is much sought-after for performances.

Tickets to the gala are $45 each. Table sponsorships for eight guests are available for $450 or $550 for ten. Tickets are by reservation only and will not be available at the door.

Contact Heather Powdrill at (512) 393-8420 for reservations or more information. Proceeds from the holiday gala event benefit the Sights and Sounds of Christmas, the three-day Christmas festival beginning on Dec. 3.
