HCSO looks for help in Dripping Springs burglary

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is looking for a burglary suspect in connection with an incident Tuesday afternoon in Dripping Springs.

At approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday, the HCSO responded to a reported armed robbery with shots fired at DS Grocery, located at 601 U.S. 290 in Dripping Springs. Deputies learned that an Hispanic male, approximately 24 years of age, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, wearing blue jeans, a grey University of Texas hoodie and a white mask (possibly a pillow case) over his face entered the store, brandished a shotgun, approached the clerk and demanded money.

The clerk complied with and handed the suspect a bag with money. At about the same time, a customer in the store grabbed the shotgun and tussle ensued. The shotgun went off, firing one shot into the ceiling of the store.

The suspect dropped the gun and fled the store, dropping the money as he exited. He jumped into a waiting vehicle, which deputies described as a dark colored Honda passenger car with either paper plates or obscured plates. The car was driven by a second Hispanic male, for whom no further description is available.

The car fled eastbound on U.S. 290. The money was recovered and no one was injured in the incident.

The HCSO said the investigation is ongoing and asks anyone with information about the robbery to contact its office.

Just a pet peeve of mine, but burglary does not equal robbery. They are two extremely different things.
