Central Texas Medical Center will unveil its $35 million expansion project to the community with a free preview event 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2. Guests will be treated to self-guided tours, unique food and beverages, children’s entertainment and an opportunity to win a laptop, a 32-inch flat screen television or a new iPod Touch.
“We are thankful to have completed a state-of-the-art facility that provides families the convenience of being closer to home,” said Gary Jepson, the hospital’s president and chief executive officeer. “It’s with great excitement that we open the doors of our new Women’s Center to the community.”
CTMC’s expansion passed inspection by the Texas Department of Health on Tuesday, officially giving the hospital possession of the new addition. With the expansion, the hospital’s number of licensed beds will increase from 113 to 150. Crews will be installing furniture, equipment and artwork over the next few weeks and the Women’s Center will be open to patients on Monday, Nov. 30.
The 64,000-square-foot addition includes a new Women’s Center with all private rooms, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a new cardiac inpatient nursing unit also with all private rooms. It also includes an on-site, high-risk delivery suite and a customized cesarean section suite.
“Every space and service has been designed to provide a peaceful, healing atmosphere for mothers and families,” said Lana Cameron, CTMC Vice President of Patient Care Services. “With the new Women’s Center, we have created the personal, family-centered experience our community deserves.”
The Center features special amenities for mothers and families, including flat screen televisions, free Wi-Fi, nutrition stations, a gift shop, an online photo album of your newborn for friends and family to view, and a Healing Garden for visitors.
CTMC also offers expanded childbirth education and certified breastfeeding support. All programs are offered in both English and Spanish.
