The San Marcos Manufacturers Association(SMMA) has had a busy fall with both a career fair for San Marcos High School students and a training seminar for local employees.
The career fair offered San Marcos High School (SMHS) students an opportunity to learn about locally manufactured products and the career possibilities available at local industries. Participating in the fair were Butler Manufacturing, C-Fan, Ember Industries, Goodrich, Grande Communications, Gulf Business Forms, Inc., Heldenfels, Mensor, Philips, and Thermon Manufacturing.
The training seminar was presented by Lisa Spencer of the Advisory Council for the department of communication at Texas State University.
The presentation focused on improving personal effectiveness through strong communication skills. Attendees saw the seminar as both educational and entertaining.
Each year the SMMA grants several scholarships to high school graduates and others who wish to further their education. The scholarships are made possible through funds generated from these seminars.
The seminar was sponsored by CenturyLink.
