The directors of the Cancer Awareness Month and Community Outreach (CAMCO) recently recognized the San Marcos High School cheerleaders and Monica Garcia, vice president of their booster club, for their outstanding work throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The committee, headed by Dr. Lawrence Estaville, Dr. Abel Galaviz, and Ricardo Soliz, noted that the cheerleaders performed at several cancer awareness events throughout the community during October. Additionally, the squad created and donated four beautiful pink ribbons as a show of support for cancer survivors. The ribbons were displayed at Bobcat Stadium during the homecoming game.

“We appreciate the cheerleaders’ efforts to educate the community and bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we look forward to working with this fine group of young ladies in the future for other cancer awareness events,” said Soliz, Assistant Principal of Miller Middle School.
