Dermatology Laser Center and Spa attend wellness fair

The Dermatology Laser Center and Spa booth at the Employee Wellness Fair.

Recently the Dermatology Laser Center and Spa took part in the second annual Employee Wellness Fair at Texas State.

Educational material was provided to attendees. Participants visiting their booth were given information on skin cancer, the most common form of cancer in the U.S.

One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of their lifetimes.

Attendees visiting the booth often had personal stories regarding skin cancer or someone they knew who was stricken with the disease.

Many of the participants questions centered on what to do to prevent skin cancer and what should be done if skin cancer has been diagnosed.  The early warning signs of melanoma were discussed.

The Center recommended using sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and also stressed the importance of annual skin exams.
