STAFF REPORT

Texas Governor Rick Perry has appointed Hays County Precinct 3 Commissioner Will Conley (R-San Marcos) to the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission (TJPC).

The commission works in partnership with local juvenile boards and probation departments to support and enhance juvenile probation services throughout Texas. The commission offers intervention and rehabilitative programs, services for families, and community programs.

Conley will serve as one of nine commissioners appointed from across the state.

“I am honored to receive this appointment from the governor,” Conley said. “I look forward to working with the commission to help troubled youth become honest and contributing members of society.”

The TJPC is the fifth state or regional board to which Conley has been appointed. He chairs the Capitol Area Regional Transportation Planning Organization and serves on the executive committee of the Capitol Area Council of Governments. Conley also is a board member of the Lone Star Rail District and the Austin Community College Center for Public Policy and Political Studies.

Conley’s first meeting as a member of the commission will take place on Friday, Nov. 20.

“The work of this commission helps to make our schools and communities safer, and most importantly, it offers vulnerable members of our society a fresh start,” Conley said.
