When Miller Middle School Librarian Jennifer Heath, attended the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) National Conference in Charlotte, NC, last month, she was one of only 30 librarians selected throughout the country to receive a travel grant to attend. The grant is sponsored by Bound to Stay Bound Books.
The AASL conference is the only national conference addressing school library media specialists and their importance in the educational setting. The conference has the goal of extending the school library’s role in student learning while striving for excellence in elementary and secondary school librarians.
Heath said she is excited about the conference speakers and sessions she will experience. Although she is the only representative from San Marcos CISD, she plans to bring back resources for all district librarians.
“Our district librarians are a fabulous group of dedicated, hard-working professionals who are constantly seeking new ways of bringing information to students,” Heath said. “It is an honor to be able to travel to a national conference to bring back resources and ideas for my colleagues.”Email | Print
