Bobcats return to football rankings

STAFF REPORT

The Texas State football team has returned to the national rankings after two consecutive wins against ranked teams.

The Sports Network and the Football Championship Series (FCS) coaches polls both put the Bobcats at No. 25 this week.

After a 28-7 win against No. 11 Stephen F. Austin (SFA) at Bobcat Stadium on Oct. 31, the Bobcats won, 27-24, at No. 19 Central Arkansas last Saturday.

The Bobcats now have seven straight road wins in the Southland Conference, winning all three of their league road games this season after going 4-0 in league road games in 2008.

The Bobcats will play their third straight game against a ranked team Saturday, when No. 10 McNeese State visits Bobcat Stadium (2 p.m.). The Bobcats, McNeese, SFA and Southeastern Louisiana are in a four-way tie for first place in the Southland Conference at 4-1 with two weeks remaining.

The Bobcats are 6-3 overall after three straight wins. McNeese State is 7-2 overall.
