Wal-Mart employees presented CTMC employees Executive Director of CTMC Foundation Clay DeStefano and Foundation Coordinator Jerilyn Miller, a check worth $5,000 for CTMC’s new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Central Texas Medical Center recently announced that Wal-Mart donated $5,000 for the furnishing of Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMS) new Parent Sleep Room, a section of the new nine bassinet, Level II, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU.)
The community is invited to a free preview if the unit on Sunday, Nov. 22, from 2-5 p.m. Attendees will be treated to tours, hors d’oeuvres, family entertainment and a chance to win $1,500 in prizes.
Once a premature baby is ready for discharge from CTMC, parents will spend the last night of the hospital stay with the baby in the Parent Sleep Room. NICU Nurses oversee the room educating parents and helping them to feel comfortable taking care of their newborns.
“We are incredibly thankful for Wal-Mart’s generosity,” CTMC President and CEO Gary Jepson, CTMC said. “I know that the parents will really appreciate such an accommodating and relaxing environment as they begin these exciting next steps of their lives.”
The NICU is part of CTMC’s ongoing $35 million expansion project, which also include a cardiac telemetry inpatient nursing unit and the new Women’s Center.
