Davis named to preseason SLC team

Texas State senior guard Victoria Davis has been named to the Southland Conference’s preseason second team for women’s basketball.

Davis averaged 9.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game last year for the Bobcats, who finished 14-16 overall and 6-10 in the league.

In polls of the league’s coaches and sports information directors, the Bobcats were picked to finish fourth in the West Division by the SIDs and fifth by the coaches.

The coaches and SIDs both picked Stephen F. Austin to win the East Division and Lamar to win the West Division.

The Bobcats will open their 2009-10 season on Nov. 13 against Texas College at Strahan Coliseum (5:30 p.m.).

Texas State head coach Suzanne Fox enters her 13th season with a career record of 275-217, second best in Southland Conference history.
