Hays High School recognized for water conservation

The pump at Hays High School was named 2009 “Permittee of the Year” by the Barton Springs/Edwards Aquifer Conservation District (BS/EACD) for significant efforts to reduce water use.

“Jack Hays High School has made significant efforts to reduce water use and proactively communicate to keep the district informed of major projects,” the water district’s board of directors said in a statement. “They have a perfect compliance history during the 16 months of District-declared drought with an average pumpage 57% below the required targets.”

The water district recognizes “exemplary” efforts to conserve and protect groundwater resources.
