Jeff Gerlich led Texas State with a three-under par 210, helping the Bobcats finish ninth at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate that ended Tuesday afternoon in Las Cruces, NM.
The Bobcats carded an 856 through three rounds on the New Mexico State Golf Course.
Texas State fell from eighth place after shooting a 287 on the final 18 holes. Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) took the team title with a 23-under par 829 team score.
Gerlich tied for 15th individually after opening with a 68-70 and carding a 72 Tuesday. Texas State’s Philip Krebsbach tied for 30th after shooting a 214 (68-75-71) and teammate Michael Carnes tied for 38th with a 216 (74-71-71) tournament tally.
The Bobcats’ Carson Gibson finished one stroke back from Carnes at 217 (75-69-73) to tie for 41st, while Alastair Jones shot a 224 (75-74-75) and finished tied for 79th.
UNLV’s Derek Ernst and New Mexico State’s Timothy Madigan shared the individual title at a nine-under-par 204.
Texas State will return to the links Feb. 15-16 at the Texas-San Antonio Oak Hills Invitational in San Antonio.Email | Print
