Mayor honors youth advocate, proclaims power week

San Marcos Police Department Officer Danny Arredondo recently was honored by the San Marcos City Council and the San Marcos Youth Commission (SMYC) as “Youth Advocate of the Month” for his involvement with community youth programs.

The monthly SMYC program recognizes individuals who provide a positive influence for the city’s youth. Citizens can nominate someone through the SMYC. The youth commission, appointed by the San Marcos City Council, consists of nine unpaid members, three of whom represent a youth services.

The mayor also proclaimed “Public Power Week” recognizing the reliable, efficient and cost-effective electric service provided by the community-owned Electric Utility in San Marcos.
