SUBMITTED REPORT
San Marcos police arrested two San Antonio men in an overnight home invasion in which one person was shot and wounded.
The incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday at the University Heights Apartments at 1610 North Interstate 35. Arrested following a foot chase by police were Michael Wilson, age 23, and Justin Pickaree, age 19, from the San Antonio area.
They are charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest. They are being held at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center and were expected to be formally booked this morning.
According to Cmdr. Terry Nichols, the two suspects, armed with handguns, entered the apartment around 11:40 p.m. A fight ensued and one suspect shot a 23-year old man who lived in the apartment.
The victim was seriously injured and was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge in Austin where he was reported to be in stable condition Wednesday morning.
Seven people were in the apartment at the time, including two residents and five visitors.
Both suspects fled on foot after the shooting. Police found them running through the apartment complex and arrested them after a short foot pursuit.
Two handguns were recovered at the apartment complex which had been thrown away when suspects fled from officers. Both handguns were reported stolen from the San Antonio area, Nichols said.
Police are continuing their investigation.
— FROM THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS/MELISSA MILLECAM
Were averaging about one home invasion/shooting a month now plus all the rapes. Are the wages of growth worth it, San Marcos?
But half of those are from people who are residents in other cities. San Martians are generally peaceful, don’t you think?
Besides… you try and stop growth from happening. To be successful is to make the quality of life in San Marcos worse for those who live here.
I was close to one of the young men and he was just a boy trying to live in this world, not sayin that was the right way but, with the system the way it is who are you to judge and blame him?
I really enjoyed reading your interesting yet very informative insight. In the book of life every page has two sides: we human beings fill the upper side with our plans, hopes and wishes, but providence writes on the other side, and what it ordains is seldom our goal. Thank you for sharing and I am looking forward to reading more of your very current blog postings!!! 😀 Shooter Game
