Band of Heathens will give a free concert at the Glade outdoor theatre on the campus of Texas State.
The Stars of Texas Music Legacy Series will feature Austin-based artists Band of Heathens and The Trishas for a concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Glade Outdoor Theatre on the Texas State campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Band of Heathens play a blues-tinged country rock that won the Best New Band title at 2008’s Austin Music Awards. They ranked eighth on the Americana Music Association’s Top 100 Albums on the Americana chart for 2008.
The band’s current release, “One Foot in the Ether” (BOH Records), is at No. 3 on the American Radio Chart, placing No. 1 on the Euro Americana Chart for October. The band is fresh from recent gigs in Germany.
The Trishas came together for a tribute to songwriter Kevin Welch at the 2009 Steamboat Music Festival. The quartet, Jamie Wilson, Liz Foster, Kelley Mickwee and Savannah Welch, all came from other bands and thought they were doing a one-time gig to honor Savanah’s dad. Observers said the gig was magical synchronicity and The Trishas have been performing together ever since.
The Stars of Texas Music Legacy Series is sponsored through Gary Hartman and the Center for Texas Music History and Richard Cheatham, Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication. For more information on the event, call (512) 245-3501 or email email@example.com.Email | Print
