The 17th Annual Stars of Texas Gala, Central Texas Medical Center’s (CTMC) yearly benefit event, entertained a record 502 attendees on the evening of Oct. 11 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center. The event, which raised funds for CTMC’s new Women’s Center, included gourmet dining, a silent auction and music from country music star Lee Ann Womack.
KVUE’s Melissa Gale emceed the event, which honored the women of CTMC’s medical staff. The evening was punctuated by Womack singing her Grammy-winning hit “I Hope You Dance.”
“We are very fortunate to be a part of such a supportive and engaged community,” said CTMC’s President and CEO Gary Jepson. “Despite difficult economic times, our sponsors and guests were still very generous. On behalf of all those the new Women’s Center will serve, I cannot thank them enough for their contributions.”
The gala raised $137,000 to benefit the Women’s Center which is slated to open in late November. The center is part of the hospital’s $35 million expansion program. The 64,000-square-foot addition includes a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a new new cardiac telemetry inpatient nursing unit.
