The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce (SMACC) Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting ceremony for Blue Skies Aviation, 2010 Airport Road, on Oct. 8.
Blue Skies Aviation is a registered and insured airplane maintenance facility.
Shaune Maycock, President and CEO of Blue Skies, has been in the aviation field for five years and has earned airframe and power plant degrees. Blue Skies does maintenance, repairs and inspections in addition to certifications, avionics installations and custom instrument panels. All of their mechanics are also pilots.
Maycock and his fiancée, Christie, chose to settle in San Marcos because of the small town feel of the city and the growth potential of the San Marcos Airport.
“I knew after I gained experience and achieved the status of inspector from the FAA that I would open my own shop,” said Maycock. “I did just that and know we are growing every month and building a great reputation as an honest, efficient and affordable shop to bring your aircraft for inspections and maintenance.”
Maycock also is running for the Place 5 seat on the San Marcos City Council in November against educator Lisa Marie Coppoletta and homebuilder Ryan Thomason.
