STAFF REPORT
For the last couple of weeks, the Diamond Line Dance Team at San Marcos High School (SMHS) has been hard at work at a new routine. It’s not a dance, though. It’s a fund raiser that involves almost as much hard work as the group’s award winning choreography.
With the SMHS homecoming approaching on Oct. 23, the team is making the traditional mums worn by students and Rattler fans. The mums are an amazing amalgam of ribbons, charms and beads that take a good deal of patient work to complete.
This year, the team made 75 large mums, 75 friendship mums and 100 garters. The prices for the mums range from $15-$45. They are on sale from Oct. 19-22 and will be available at the SMHS cafeteria during lunches, at Victory Cleaners from 4-7 p.m., at Miller Middle School from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and at the homecoming carnival on Oct.22 from 4-7 p.m.
For more information go to www.rattlers.net/diamond or call (512) 618-1681.
Mums resting in the work area are ready for homecoming.
