Area Toastmaster wins humorous speech contest

Alan Cameron from the San Marcos Toastmasters took first place in the Humorous Speech contest at a recent competition of local chapters.

Cameron will now proceed Saturday to the Division 1 Contest, where he will compete with winners from Area I-71, I-72, I-73 and I-74. The winners of the six division contests will compete at the District 55 Speech Contest at the fall Toastmasters Conference in Corpus Christi on Nov. 5-6.

Competing for the San Marcos chapter of Toastmasters, Cameron won a competition including Toastmasters in New Braunfels, the Wimberley Hill Country Club chapter, the Rise and Shine Club in Buda, the Dripping Springs Club and the San Marcos club.

The San Marcos Toastmasters meet every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Saltgrass Steakhouse, 221 Sessoms Drive. You may contact them at smtoastmasters@yahoo.com. Visitors are always welcomed.
