Texas State’s volleyball team went on the road in the Southland Conference last week for the first time and lost two matches, falling to 2-3 in the league and 8-11 overall.
On Oct. 1, the Bobcats lost, 3-2 (14-25, 32-30, 25-21, 24-26, 16-14), at Sam Houston State. Despite the loss, Melinda Cave turned in a monster match for the Bobcats with 19 kills, 11 digs and one block, leaving her one block shy of a triple-double.
The Bobcats weren’t nearly as close on Oct. 3 at Lamar, where they lost, 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 29-27). The win improved Lamar to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in the Southland Conference.
Texas State returns home to play Texas-Arlington at Strahan Coliseum Friday (6:30 p.m.) in its Dig Pink match. Anyone wearing pink will receive a $2 ticket discount.
