SMA shoots to stay unbeaten

The San Marcos Academy Bears will put their 4-0 record on the line Friday night in their homecoming game against Shiner St. Paul (7:30 p.m.).

The Bears have outscored their last three opponents 142-8. The Bears are averaging 336.8 offensive yards per game.

Wimberley, 2-3 overall and 1-0 in District 8-3A, defeated Burnet, 21-14, at home last week. The Texans go to Ingram Moore (0-5, 0-1) Friday night to continue their district season. Moore lost, 42-7, at Canyon Lake last week. Wimberley is tied with Liberty Hill and Canyon Lake on top of the district.

Dripping Springs will try to snap a three-game losing streak Friday night at home against Killeen. The Tigers are 2-3 overall and 0-1 in District 25-4A.

Dripping Springs lost last week at Marble Falls, 14-7, while Killeen took a 56-31 loss to Lake Travis. Besides Marble Falls and Lake Travis, the other winner in last week’s start to the district schedule was Hutto, which beat Pflugerville Hendrickson last week, 62-35.

Two District 17-4A teams, Hays and Lehman, are off this week as their prepare for the start of the district season next Friday.
