San Marcos CISD recently welcomed two new administrators, Ulla Durham and Melanie Allien, to its educational staff.
Ulla Durham is the new Assistant Director of the San Marcos CISD Business Office. Durham acquired her early education in her native home of Germany, where she first worked as business manager for a firm in Frankfurt. After moving to the United States, she worked as a high school secretary in Ropesville, Texas. She was also the business manager and Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) Coordinator for the Smyer ISD. Before coming to San Marcos CISD, she worked with the Loop ISD as the business manager and PEIMS coordinator and, later as that school’s business consultant.
Durham maintains certifications as an Educational Secretary III and as a Certified Texas School Business Official. She is also a certified Texas Business Schoo Specialist in Accounting with the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO.)
Melanie Allien, the new Assistant Principal of Miller Middle School, earned her Bachlors degree from Ball State University in environmental studies. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Louisiana-Monroe in secondary education.
Allien maintains her certifications in secondary science for grades 6-12 as well as administration for pre-K through Grade 12. She has completed studies in administration and supervision for Education Service Center XIII. She taught science in both Austin ISD and Hays CISD before becoming the academic dean and assistant principal for the SSI Summer Academy and Course Recovery Center in San Antonio at Northeast ISD.
“I have heard many good things about SMCISD and welcome the opportunity to be a part of the team,” Allien said.
