Britney Curry scored one goal and assisted on another, leading the Texas State soccer team to a 2-0 win against Houston Baptist Tuesday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
Curry assisted a first-half goal for Erica Michaud, who took the pass from 12 yards out on the left side of the field and punched in the goal to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Curry scored on a second-half penalty kick after Andrea Grito was fouled heading for the goal.
Senior goaltender Mandi Mawyer made four saves to preserve the Texas State win as the Bobcats defense held Houston Baptist to just ten shots in the game.
“Tonight’s victory was necessary,” said Texas State soccer coach Kat Conner. “We needed a win to gain some confidence back that had been lost. We have one more game and then we start conference. I know we have a team that can repeat the conference title.”
Texas State faces Prairie View A&M Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Bobcat Soccer Complex. Then, the Bobcats hit the road on Oct. 2 against Central Arkansas to open Southland Conference play.Email | Print
