Carino’s Italian Restaurants partnered with three San Marcos CISD elementary schools, Crockett Elementary, DeZavala Elementary and Travis Elementary, in the Stuff the Backpack drive in August. The program provides necessary supplies to help students and teachers get the tools the need for a successful school year.

Carino’s, 1207 Interstate-35 South, collected donations from patrons throughout the month of August. Customers donated notebooks, crayons, pens, pencils and other supplies, dropping them off at the restaurant.

Dressed in chef’s coats, Carino’s representatives recently surprised the students at Travis and Crockett Elementary schools as they dropped off the donations at the school’s morning assemblies.

Stuff the Backpacks Day was officially declared by Mayor Susan Narvaiz on Aug. 18.

“We applaud Carino’s efforts in creating this drive and helping our students with the supplies they need for the upcoming school year,” said Narvaiz.
