Bobcat Tube will launch with video contest

STAFF REPORT

The Office of University Marketing at Texas State is sponsoring the Bobcat Tube Video Contest as a part of the launch for the Texas State homepage on YouTube.

Filmakers/videographers who would like to enter are asked to submit a video of three minutes or less on the theme, “A Slice of My Life at Texas State.”

The productions of the top three finalists will be posted on the official Texas State YouTube page. They will also be shown at the Bobcat Tube Film Festival in early December, when the “Golden Bobcat” award will be presented to the top video entered in the contest.  The three finalists will get prizes as well with a video camera for first place, an iTouch for second and an iPod shuffle for third.

Video styles can run the gamut, including animation. The contest is open to faculty, staff and students. The deadline for entries is midnight, Nov. 22.

The official rules and guidelines for submissions can be perused at the contest homepage, go.txstate.edu/VideoContest.

A bit of inspiration may be found at uwpocketmedia.org, which posts the entries of a recent video contest that took place at the University of Washington. You can also search for “I’m a Hokie” on YouTube to see the results of a similar contest at Virginia Tech.
