STAFF REPORT

This year’s Common Experience lectures at Texas State carry the title “The Whole Mind: Crossing Boundaries of Disciplines” for its scheduled events this fall.

That theme in mind, the San Marcos Public Library and Texas State University join cities and universities all across America in challenging readers to share the experience of reading of a single thought-provoking book, “A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers Will Rule the Future,” by Daniel Pink.

Dr. Bruce Smith will give a multimedia presentation, “Lifelong Creativity and Daniel Pink’s A Whole New Mind” at the San Marcos Public Library, 625 East Hopkins Street, at 7 p.m. on Oct. 13. The fall campus keynote event will be a lecture by Pink on his book and the value of right-brain thinking in modern economics on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. at the LBJ Student Center Mall.

The events also include a screening of The Soloist, a biographical drama about the life of musical prodigy, Nathaniel Anthony Ayers, on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the LBJ Student Center.
