The Board of Trustees at The Master’s School, 1664 Centerpoint Road, recently appointed Brian Gunther as the new Head of School, serving as the school’s primary administrator. The Master’s School is a classically modeled Christian day school for grades K-7.
Guenther, a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, started his career in education working for the Highland Lakes Camp and Conference Center in the outdoor education department. He served as Youth/Recreation Pastor and contemporary worship leader with First Baptist Church in Kingsland. He and his family moved to San Marcos to help found the River Stone Community Church.
Guenther’s career at The Master’s School started in 2006 as a 7th grade music teacher and worship leader. In 2007, he was the K-6 music teacher. In 2008 he was assigned the job of assistant principal.
After his appointment to Head of School Guenther said, “At the time I went from teaching the one music class to being the full-time music teacher, I fell in love with the school, its students, its teachers, and the mission. At that time, I just thought that I would continue to be the music teacher. However, God had greater plans. With the resignation of the assistant principal the following year, I was given the opportunity to fill that position. In that role, I was able to learn more of the history of the school, its decision-making processes, and the curriculum, giving me the chance to serve the school as a whole. This led into the position that I now hold.”
