Bobcats lose volleyball match at Baylor

The Texas State volleyball team fell to 1-7 Tuesday night, losing in three games (25-14, 25-13, 25-22) to Baylor in Waco.

Mo Middleton led the Bobcats with nine kills, while Shelbi Irvin had 12 assists and nine digs.

Texas State stayed within 7-7 in the first game, but Baylor scored the next five points and cruised to the end. In the second game, Baylor led almost from begining to end.

The Bobcats hung much tougher in the third game, taking a 19-16 lead before Baylor scored the next five points. From their, the Bears and Bobcats played evenly to a Baylor victory.

The Bobcats return home for the CenturyTel Premier on Sept. 11 -12. Texas State will face Hofstra, Texas Southern and Texas A&M during the two-day tournament.

The Bobcats open up the tourney on Friday at noon against Texas Southern, then Hofstra at 7 p.m. the same day. The Bobcats will close the tournament with a 2 p.m. game against Texas A&M.
