Texas State’s soccer team played a brilliant defensive game Sunday, allowing only one shot on goal in a 3-0 win against Tennessee Tech at the Samford Bulldog Invitational in Birmingham, AL.
Britney Curry, Taylor Kelley and Taylor Person each scored goals for the Bobcats, who snapped a three-game losing streak and improved their record to 2-3.
“The team played brilliantly,” Texas State coach Kat Conner said. “They did exactly what we taught in practice, and that is to read what the other team is doing and make the in-game adjustments to beat them. They performed brilliantly out there.”
Texas State took a 2-0 lead to halftime, Curry scored at 12:44 of the first half on a pass from Maddie Piranio, then Kelly scored on a pass from Jessica Etling.
Texas State outshot Tennessee Tech, 18-4, with Bobcat goalie Deborah Ross making one save in 90 minutes.
The Bobcats return to action Friday night, when they travel to Houston for a 7 p.m. game against the Cougars.
