STAFF REPORT

KYLE — Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle is planning a big weekend for Sept. 11-12, which includes a benefit for the Manchaca Fire Hall and the possibility of expanded races.

The race track is calling Sept. 12 “Save the Firehall” Night at the Races. Promoters will “Pass the Helmet” for a collection during drivers meetings and in the grandstand to help fund the fire hall on FM 1626 northwest of Buda. The proceeds will help with expenses for the Save the Firehall benefit on Sept. 13. Raffle tickets will also be sold for some customized Texas Longhorn and Texas A&M BBQ pits.

In addition, all drivers in all classes are asked to participate in a “Remembering 9-1-1” memorial on the front straightaway during opening ceremonies.

Dwidude.com is sponsoring the Pro Truck feature race, and Umscheid Race Services is giving a $100 gift certificate to the fastest qualifier.

Now that the Mini Stock Class has grown, the feature race has increased from 10 laps to 15 laps.

The TSRS Late Model race will be called the TSRS Late Models “Rebecca Cooper CPA 75,” which will include  out-of-car introductions for the TSRS Late Models.

Tator Mason, owner of Tator Plumbing in San Antonio, is adding $200 to the Thunder Stock purse – $100 to the race winner and $100 to a randomly-drawn position following the technical inspections.

If 16 or more cars enter the ASA A-Line Super Stocks race, the race will be expanded from 30 laps to 40.
