The Texas State men’s and women’s cross country teams will open up the 2009 season Saturday, when they will be hosts of the Texas State Invitational at Gary Job Corps.
The University men’s section will start the meet off at 8 a.m. The University women’s race is set to follow at 8:35 a.m.
“With the first race of the season, I want to find where the runners are amongst other teams of Southland Conference who will be there,” Texas State coach Grigori Viniar said.
Heather Bullin returns for her senior season to lead the Texas State women’s team. Bullin finished fifth at the 2008 Southland Conference Championships, garnering All-SLC honors. She is joined by a wealth of experienced runners who return from last season.
For the Texas State men, senior Jonathan Hernandez returns for his last year on the cross country course. Hernandez was the first Bobcat to cross the line at the Southland Conference Championships last year, taking 19th place as the men’s team finished seventh.
