Toastmasters cut 'ribbon'

STAFF REPORT

The San Marcos Toastmasters are moving their meetings to a new location and will have a “Ribbon Cutting” ceremony to inaugurate the change on Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. at the Saltgrass Steakhouse, 221 East Sessoms Drive. The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce (SMACC) hosts the event.

Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization devoted to developing and improving public speaking and leadership abilities. This is done through training seminars, speech contests and local club meetings. There are more than 12,000 clubs worldwide in more than 106 countries.

Each meeting gives members an opportunity to practice the conducting of meetings, give impromptu speeches and present prepared speeches. Members supportively give feedback and constructive evaluations.

San Marcos Toastmasters Club #8524 meets weekly on Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. in the upper loft at Saltgrass Steakhouse. Visitors are always welcome. More information is located at their website at sanmarcos.freetoasthost.org
