SUBMITTED REPORT
Reconstruction of the city’s tennis courts at Rio Vista Park is progressing on schedule with final completion anticipated by Sept. 15. A grand opening celebration will be planned following completion.
The $568,126 project will replace six existing courts, add a practice backboard, new sports lighting, shade canopies, player benches, spectator benches, a water fountain and windscreens.
The new courts will replace those originally built 35 years ago with a grant from the H.E.B. Tennis Foundation in 1974.
Land Design Partners of Austin designed the new tennis courts, which are being built by Thomas N Thomas of San Marcos.
So far, the slab has been poured, light pole piers are poured, fence poles are up, electrical lines are trenched, and the water line for water fountain has been trenched. Fence fabric has been installed.
Final construction steps include colorizing the courts and seeding the grounds around courts.
