Readers' Theater presents Linney plays

Author John Fleming will be performing in Linney Plays on Aug. 23

The Wine Cellar will present a Readers’ Theater on Aug. 23 featuring a collection of short plays by award winning playwright Romulus Linney. The production is made in collaboration with Texas State’s Department of Theatre and Dance, Playwright in Residence Eugene Lee and Professor Sandra Mayo.

The Wine Cellar is on the corner of East Hopkins Street and LBJ.

The short plays featured are “Yancey,”  “Juliet” and “Gold and Silver Waltz.”  They will be performed by an all-star cast consisting of Jim Price (Texas State faculty). Carolyn Pate (Texas State Correspondence Studies instructor), John Hood (Texas State faculty), Antoinette Winstead (Our Lady of the Lake University faculty) Johanna Haley (Texas State Alumni Association Board member) and John Fleming (Chair, Texas State Department of Theatre).

John Fleming, who will read in two of the plays, “Juliet” and “Gold and Silver Waltz,” is the author of the book “Romulus Linney: Maverick of the Theatre.”

The Readers’ Theater will be from 4-6:30 p.m. Light hors d’ oeuvres will be served. The event is free but reservations  are required. You may make reservations online at www.winecellartexas.com or call (512) 805-9463.
