Popular San Marcos artist Veronique Zehnder Hahn will be hosted at an exhibit and sale of her works Saturday, Aug. 22, from 1-4 p.m. at the Price Seniors Center, 222 West San Antonio Street.Born in Casablanca, Zehnder Hahn spent her early years in her parents’ native home of Switzerland and graduated with a degree in fine arts at the College of Higher Education for the Arts Arnhem in the Netherlands.
“Cross cultural symbolism” is the phrase she uses to describe her work showing the different meanings elements have in different cultures. The abstract also appears in several of her works.
Her style has developed from living in different countries and she believes that “differences are not right or wrong. We can learn from these differences.”
From her husband, a biology professor at Texas State, she has developed a flair for “looking at nature with different eyes.”
In addition to numerous art shows in San Marcos and Central Texas, she has had individual exhibitions in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and France.
“I love the cultural richness of San Marcos and the Hill Country and want to leave something behind that contribute culturally to society,” said Zehnder Hahn, who is active in numerous civic endeavors.
Her website — www.veroniquezehnderhahn.com — carries numerous examples of her art, some of which will be on display Saturday along with newer paintings.Email | Print
